Lluis Corujo

I was impressed by how good this year's EGO fashion shows were. I think the standard is so high that designers who have been established for decades at Cibeles should observe their young colleagues and consider making some changes. The award for the best collection in this edition of EGO was shared between Etxeberría and Lluis Corujo, both fantastic shows. Congratulations to both winners.

Lluis Corujo is from Mallorca, trained at the Antwerp school and collaborated with Miguel Androver. In this collection, he was inspired by the iconography of death as we know it in Mediterranean culture. His widows were presented wrapped in layers of black, with rhinestone cobwebs and dark feathers crowning details.

A collection that I had the opportunity to see up close backstage, it's entirely hand-stitched. I remember being struck by the fact that even the inside serging of the garments was hand-mended. Craftsmanship with meticulous detail. Next to each model's image (courtesy of Vogue.es), I've included a close-up of some detail of the garment.

I found it amusing to find photos of Lluis himself dressed in his creations backstage. On the one hand, I understand that it's not easy to have a fitting model available whenever you need one when you're starting out. On the other hand, a faint echo in my mind tells me I've read somewhere about a place or time when men dressed as widows in mourning. I'm probably losing what little sanity I have left.

Have a good week. I've been dreaming that my relatives are dying for two days now and I'm exhausted. I hope with this post to get through my psychological mourning and stop having these damn nightmares.
Hugs,
