Things that are truly worth investing in
It happens, it happens, and it's understandable why it happens because when you're an entrepreneur, you're worried about saving every last penny, but there are some things you have to admit are better left to someone else, to a professional you'll gladly pay because the difference in quality between doing it yourself and having them do it is immense. I'm talking about the silhouette photos of my jackets.
The first time I commissioned a professional to do them was about three years ago, when we still didn't quite know how to spell the word crisis and budgets for everything were happily inflated. I remember he charged me twenty-something euros for each silhouette, and when I complained about the exorbitant price, he practically called me cheap and a newbie. That must have traumatized me because since then we've been doing them in the workshop with varying degrees of success each season.
But time passes, traumas heal, we're raising our standards, and everything needs to be better taken care of, so for the new seasons, we've hired a new studio that takes our silhouette photos and oh-my-gods I couldn't be happier with the result. There are some things you just have to invest in, period. Of course, investing doesn't mean throwing money away or letting yourself be taken advantage of.
If you're looking for someone to take good silhouette photos, I recommend Nice studio in Madrid. If you ask for Miguel, you'll also have the opportunity to meet a truly charming guy who knows the business and is crazy enough to recommend you take fewer photos if he thinks you don't need them and they'll be an unnecessary expense.
