Paris Las Vegas
La Condesa SS17 Show from MFSHOW on Vimeo.
Dancers who looked like flamingos, natural flowers adorning the models' skin, neon lights, and a live music show were the elements of a totally unconventional fashion show. But then again, La Condesa likes to stand out, as you know.
This combination of art, fashion, and music took place at the Museo del Traje last Monday, September 12, and those who had the great opportunity to attend left fascinated! That's why we're sharing the video and press release here, so you can savor, even if just a little, the entire story behind this very special collection!
La Condesa's Spring Summer '17 collection is named after two cities with a very particular light: Paris and Las Vegas. It carries a powerful memory of opulent America in the late 60s, when a young Manuel Cuevas entrenched himself in Los Angeles – California – to bring his unique vision of Mexican culture to the very gates of Hollywood. The rest is history; The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, and even Robert Redford wore his creations. However, it was Elvis Presley who did the most to spread the word about young Manuel, turning his jackets into authentic collector's items, now exhibited at the Met and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Las Vegas was the setting for all that creative outpouring, while on the other side of the map, Europe watched Paris stir in its streets and began one of the most important cultural evolution processes of the second half of the 20th century. Such perfectly opposite cities found perfect coexistence in the particles of time and in which La Condesa today finds her inspiration for this collection.
For the upcoming SS'17 season, La Condesa opts for pastel colors that rest calmly on flowing dresses and enliven delicate floral prints while combining with eccentric reds and intense mustards and tobaccos. Among the new additions are Swarovski crystals – embedded in original designs that provide movement. Gold threads, embroidery, lace, and ruffles are recovered each season as an emblem. And pleats, perforated batiste, organza, chiffon, and denim; are dyed, printed, embroidered, and nourished by every possible imagination for continuous stimulation of our brain.
I invite you to enjoy.
Let it happen.
