Cuadros escoceses...plaid...tartan...the evolution of the species / The evolution of the species

In my teenage years, I had a pair of Doctor Martens that even today, when I remember them, bring a tear to my eye. They were red, Scottish plaid, similar to these in the photo but prettier. I know you might be thinking, "good for you," but you're wrong; they were beautiful, they went well with everything (yes, really! I mean, I was a teenager!) and if I found them today, I'd buy two pairs. I dedicate this post to them, because this winter, tartan is everywhere, and that just makes me remember them more, and the wound won't heal.

When I was a teenager I had a pair of red plaid Doctor Martens which I loved from the bottom of my heart. They looked kind of like the ones in the above picture, but I swear they were even more beautiful and went well with everything. Everything in my teenage wardrobe I know, but if I'd find them right now I'd buy two pairs. This post is dedicated to them because this fall/winter tartan is everywhere and I miss them more than ever.
