Peace the Wild

Hey, hey, hey, hello, how are you all doing? Wow, I haven't seen you since last year (ugh, typical stupid joke but I'm in "brain fart" mode ((oh, how ugly to use the word fart)) which is when you unknowingly brush your teeth with your partner's toothbrush and when you realize it, it's too late and you continue with the same gusto) and I've already received criticism even from my mother-in-law (she can't stand it when I call her mother-in-law) asking me to update for once. Here I go.

I've been cooped up for days preparing a proposal for a place that, if it finally works out, will give me a fit (what a day for odd words ((or do I always use them?)). Marc from the marketing department, Enzo my personal assistant, and Alejandro, the workshop manager, have come together to develop it. We've spent part of Christmas and the last ten days locked up thinking and designing, while also maintaining current production to deliver orders on time...In reality, the only person from the above who exists is Alejandro; the others are my invisible friends with whom I talk when I've exceeded the isolation hours recommended by the WHO and exhaustion leads me to delirium.

Do I have to write a brand presentation in English? I discuss with Marc (with a Catalan accent, of course, because even though Marc spent a long time in NYC working for Androver, he hasn't lost an ounce of his natural Mataró accent) the points to develop and the general tone of the document. Do I have to start designing an exclusive mini-collection? Well, I ask Enzo to call all the fabric representatives to bring me samples to use in the product sheets, and he brings them to me very happily because he just graduated from Marangoni and is delighted to learn how a small fashion company works from the inside, and on top of that, the young man is very obedient. Then Alejandro calls me and tells me that he doesn't like the new linings for the capes that we've been waiting for over half a month, that we should go back to the old ones, and that the covered buttons still haven't arrived, asking if he should get out the old machine and we buy new dies or if I should call the button people to tell them off...In reality, the only real situation from the above is Alejandro's; the rest are my delusions of desperation when I see that nothing will happen if I don't do it myself. I need help, I know, I'm in the process of asking for it, meanwhile I'll continue to be wild.

And since we're talking about wildness and small entrepreneurs, I'll continue the conversation and introduce you to Paz López. The artist formerly known as Paz Lo.
I've told you about Paz on several occasions because she has modeled, been a graphic designer, an escort, and has contributed countless times with her orthographic precision and creative genius to the proper maintenance of this blog. That's why we're starting the year with Paz ("Peace"). Brothers and sisters, peace be with you. And with your spirit. And with that of her Consort, who is David, and with whom the blog started last year, it was only fair that this year it began with Paz. It all comes full circle.

Paz is a multidisciplinary artist. She paints, draws, colors, follows dotted lines to form an animal, makes websites, illustrates, does graphic design, and since she didn't know how to combine all this knowledge, she has now ventured into pattern design, mostly textiles. We believe she has found her calling. She is the smartest in the class, and not because I say so, but because of the scholarship she received at the IED. That's no small feat.

Last month Paz had an exhibition of paintings titled "The Untamed" at El Beso, but I was slow and didn't notify you in time for you to see them. Now I have a plan, which is to convince her to do one at Speed&Bacon, with an opening cocktail and among the buyers of her works, we'll raffle off a La Condesa jacket or something like that. I think we should try, and in that case, I promise to let you know in advance.

Paz is a lot of peace. She used to be the little sister, but now she has bloomed (how corny, bloomed) into an independent and very interesting being with her own identity. Whenever I visit Paz at her palace in Malasaña, I leave with my head buzzing with ideas and dozens of links to things I've noted down to visit. I'd like you to get to know her too because you'd like her, so I recommend her blog, which was recently opened.

When I dream of La Condesa's growth, I imagine Paz as the Head of the Textile department, helping Hoa, who would be in the Graphic Design department, and in close collaboration with Mariola from Marketing. Not forgetting Bea, Teresa, Rocío, and Ana from press, the two Isabels from the sales showroom, Patricia and Irene from the international showroom, MariCarmen, Conchita, Isa, Reme, Ángela, and Alejandro from the workshop. All of them are real, they exist and help me every day, some full-time and others as much as they can and with the time they have. I am infinitely grateful to them, and it makes me very happy that all of them (except Alejandro) are women. Enough of so many men dictating what we should wear (a feminist streak).

So let's start the year! Strength and courage!

A thousand hugs,
The united Condesas
