Ancient Greek Sandals
We all know that Greece is in a very bad way, but if there's one thing they've got us all beat on, it's history. Some sharp Greek remembered this and decided to re-issue the classic Greek sandals mentioned in their mythology. According to the legend they tell on their website, the Greek gods and goddesses commissioned their sandals from a craftsman on the island of Crete. This craftsman had the ability to imbue each pair of sandals with magical powers, like Hermes's, which made them fly. His characteristic mark, with which he branded each of his creations, was a golden wing-shaped clasp. Today we can once again enjoy these sandals thanks to Ancient Greek Sandals and the Greek who had the fantastic idea to re-issue them; I assure you that at least that Greek is far from being in crisis.
I have the Medea model in the photo and I have nothing but love and admiration for my sandals: the leather is super soft, they haven't caused me a single one of the dreaded chafing or blisters, and they go well with everything. I bought them in Holland on sale and I'm already saving up for the model I really wanted, which is the Ikaria in gold. Oh gods! they're golden and with wings...I'm dying for shoes with wings, as for their magical powers...I'll take care of that myself.
