Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition

I visited the exhibition about Jean Paul Gaultier at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. It's a real pleasure to visit exhibitions put together with so many resources and such care; more than an exhibition about a clothing designer, it seemed like an artistic happening.
I took a lot of photos, blessed be those who allowed them to be taken. I'll leave you with them, as they are worth much more than my words.

At the end of the exhibition, there is a video about the 24 hours leading up to one of his haute couture shows, which is well worth watching. In it, they explain the complexities of weaving this crocodile and crochet dress.

His first corset dress.

One of the most curious, and chilling, things about the exhibition is that, through projections, the mannequins had faces and voices. You can see what I mean in the following video:

Three-dimensional holograms incorporated into the bodice of the dress

Jean Paul himself speaking about the exhibition:

I hope you enjoyed the photos. I think the exhibition will arrive in Madrid sometime this autumn, brought by the same people who organized the Yves Saint Laurent one.
