Merits
In this collection, we've heavily played with graphic design and iconography, which are very present in the superhero comics that inspired us, but always trying to bring it to our own territory—ahem, our own county—as being noble, I must speak of domains, large estates, and vast expanses instead of simple territories.
The thing is, I've always found the boy-scout theme very comic-like (with all due respect, I mean the badges and so on), as well as military, due to all the hierarchical organization, aesthetics, and decorations they use. Delving into that theme, I discovered they're not called decorations; they are merit badges, and they are worn on the sash as they are earned. A concept sweeter than a colored candy to play with.
So here they are, the first La Condesa patches that honor merits that might initially seem unorthodox, but are important to us in this life.
From left to right: "I love internet" merit, good DJ merit, and best red lips at the party merit. All of them are on the pearl print that we used in this collection to make our first trousers and blouses, which simulate a stellar constellation of pearly spheres. A universe of pearls... wow.
Continuing from left to right with the merit for champagne lovers, classic car lovers (that one specifically is Steve McQueen's), and worthwhile, well-made purchases (of course, the bag held by that happy finger bears La Condesa's crown). The three merits rest on the "Condesa Icons" print, in which we've tried to amusingly reflect the things we like to be associated with.
Finally, from left to right, a celebration of what we love: sleeping soundly dreaming of stars, cocktails, and free Wi-Fi. The background print is "CamoKiss", a camouflage made of lipstick marks, because here we prefer to wage war with kisses.
To exemplify what we've done with these prints and life merit patches, I turn to a model with a more than established career regarding this blog, my beloved Consort, who is currently traveling and to whom, from Madrid and the blogosphere, we want to pay tribute because he is missed in both places. Small parenthesis: single mothers of the world, I admire you.

Another jacket on which we have used the patches is the Darth Vader one. It's a jacket convertible into a vest because it has zippers in the armholes and becomes sleeveless... like Vader, poor guy, left by Obi with four mangled stumps, ugh. To ward off that gloomy memory, in the photo I've put on my current favorite facial accessory, a clown nose, which I lately enjoy wearing when I go out at night (which means, now, once a month, and if I don't fall asleep at the bar). The nose was sent to me by the Theodora Foundation, and they don't know what they've done because now I feel like wearing it like contact lenses, as soon as I wake up and for everything all day long, until I get home and take it off in the bathroom until the next day.
| No, it's not photoshopped, I carry it in my bag and put it on from time to time. #EmergencyLaughs |
Anyway, my dears, here are the merits. If you like them, they are available to you here, here, or here.
P.S.: the patches are made in Spain, specifically in Madrid. Making them was quite a complicated task that took us a long time, a lot of asking around here and there, until we finally found people here who made them for us with simply magnificent quality and efficiency. All of this so we can continue to say "Proudly made in Spain by La Condesa"
